We need our volunteers to commit to these workdays NOW so that we can guarantee fulfillment of the gifts and plan accordingly so please respond ASAP.

Please help us make these gifts happen!

Volunteer to Help Individuals with Disabilities
The Center for Independence (CFI) in coordination with the Pierce County Auditors Office and the Tacoma Area Coalition of Individuals with Disabilities (TACID), is conducting ADA accessibility evaluations for 57 Pierce County voting sites. We are recruiting volunteers who either have disabilities or who are familiar with or interest in disability and access issues. The volunteers would commit to the following:

· Attend orientation July 9th

· Participate in training July 12th

· Be part of a team of 3-4 people evaluating between two to eight sites during the week of July 14th through the 18th.

Orientation for volunteers and project staff will be on July 9th from 6-8 P.M. Training for site evaluations will be on Saturday, July 12th from 11 A.M. to 1 P.M. Volunteers will receive a ten dollar stipend per site evaluation, paid after the reports are all in the following week. Drivers assigned to a team would be reimbursed at .50 cents per mile for their mileage.

If you are interested in volunteering or have any questions, please contact Sara Stiltner at saras@centerforindependence.org. Please feel free to forward this request to anyone you know who may be interested in volunteering for this important evaluation of the accessibility of Pierce County’s voting sites.

Please email or call Need-A-Break Services now to let us know if you can help with this!

Because of our volunteers we have already helped more than 65 families in 2008! Help us continue to make a difference in the community!

Thank you!
Again, immediate response is needed and donations of funding for these projects are imperative!
